The Clean Water Act is turning forty this Thursday, October 18th and we’re celebrating – on Twitter! Join us and tell the world how important the Clean Water Act is to our nation’s water – just make sure you use the hashtag, #CleanWaterAct. When you do, you’ll be joining organizations like Clean Water Action, National Wildlife Federation, Sierra Club, Waterkeeper Alliance, Environment America, LCV, and thousands upon thousands of your fellow Americans.
These past forty years we’ve made tremendous progress in cleaning up our rivers, lakes, streams and beaches – but we still face challenges and have a lot of work to do. It’s vital that we show our leaders – President Obama, Congress, and candidates across the country that we expect them to support our water by strengthening the Clean Water Act – regardless of what happens on November 6th.
Join the twitter party – we need your voice. Support the Clean Water Act as it turns forty and let the nation know that we will continue to demand swimmable, fishable, drinkable water for all of us. Here are a couple of sample tweets:
- For 40 years the #CleanWaterAct has protected America’s waters and ensured that they are fishable, drinkable, and swimmable. Thank you!
- The #CleanWaterAct was groundbreaking legislation in 1972. It turns 40 today. Celebrate 40 years of #CleanWater!
- On this day in 1972 Congress set a national goal to eliminate all water pollution. We need a strong #CleanWaterAct to meet that goal!
